Keeping the theme of the summit at heart, Resurgent India: Electronics, Entrepreneurship and Economy, Chief Guest Shri Priyank M Kharge, Honourable Minister for IT, BT, and S&T, Govt of Karnataka delivered a speech that captured everyone’s attention.

He emphasized the need for an ecosystem for the ESDM growth in India. Bangalore is by far one of the best ecosystems for innovation and ESDM market. It is one of the most dynamic city to adapt to the digital change in the world. He quoted Pt. Nehru, “Bangalore is a picture of the future.”

He said that Bangalore is churning out entrepreneurs like never before and there is a huge pool of progressive minds here. He spoke about Start up cells in IT, BT to hand hold entrepreneurs to partner with the Govt. Karnataka Govt have policies that gives them a whole host of things such as govt pilot projects, access to funds, mentors and so on.

The Minister discussed several state government initiatives and policies to encourage start-ups and entrepreneurs. The idea is to help disruptors and creators get to the next level. The goal of the government is to stimulate the ecosystem, learn from successful ecosystems, and create a better bolder state for ease of business.

H.E Ms. Dana Kursh, Counsul General of Israel to South India had a very positive feedback about the ease of doing business with India and wished to upgrade the potential of investment between the two countries. She stated that the two PMs of the countries, India and Israel have decided to invest heavily in innovation and technology to help Israeli and Karnataka based companies develop cutting edge technology.

Shri Shailendra Tyagi, Director STPI Bangalore, was proud to announce the long-term association of between IESA and STPI. He stated "The ESDM industry has contributed substantially to the GDP of the country and has provided employment to millions. This industry will be a critical aspect for growth, innovation and disruption across all segments. He explained the growth and opportunities of the ESDM market in several domains". He believes in making the country a hub for electronic innovations and encourage entrepreneurship among Indians. He felt that this summit was the perfect platform for industry experts, policy makers and start-ups to collaborate and share their thoughts and ideas for innovative ideation.

The Indian Semiconductor Fabless Start-up Ecosystem Report was also released by the dignitaries.

Importance of Fabless Ecosystem:
  1. Reduces 25% of ESDM imports
  2. $100billion opportunity
  3. Pushes the entire ESDM ecosystem upwards
Highlights from the Indian Semiconductor Fabless Startup report highlights:
- The key trends identified in the report include; Smart Industrial Automation, Defense and Rural Broadband.
- It elaborates on the Indian semiconductor design ecosystem; and highlights the various opportunities for major global semiconductor players to consider India as their global R&D destination.
- It revealed that India is a highly attractive destination for global R&D centers owing to the availability of talent, as well as lower cost (compared with the US and Western Europe).
The Fabless silicon design innovation has emerged as the next big opportunity for the technology ecosystem. The proposed Semicon Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL) is an effort to address the pains of struggling Indian fabless ecosystem in an institutional way providing efficient mechanisms that are required to bolster the fabless eco-system. SFAL is conceived to be a one stop shop for Indian fabless product companies and start-ups for providing state-of-art infrastructure, linkages to the stake holders of the eco-system, networks to mentors, industry and financial institutions and solutions to ease the business operations. The Karnataka Government and IESA have collaborated to incubate fabless silicon startups through “Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab“ — SFAL. The plan is to accelerate at least 50 startups/ companies over the next three years.

The Chief Guest at Technovation Awards Shri Nara Lokesh, Honorable Minister of IT, Rural Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh stated that the Tech awards are really an inspiration for young entrepreneurs, next-gen of job creators. We should thank Government of India, they are doing interesting work in start-ups. With AP getting a lion’s share of the tinkering labs. This opens up minds of youngsters starting from Govt schools & Govt colleges to infinite opportunities. Mentoring is imp rather than money. Inspire them and that will do a great favor in creating an ecosystem and infrastructure that will rival the best in the world.
